Contact Lens Exams

At Northside Vision, LLC, we strive to meet all of your eye and vision care needs. Corrective lens evaluations and prescription management are provided by our optometrist in Boiling Springs. After a comprehensive eye and vision evaluation, Dr. Melissa Stiling will discuss the variety of contact lens options with you to select the type that best fits your vision needs and lifestyle. If you suffer from dry eye, allergies, or recurring eye infections, speak with our doctor to determine whether contact lenses are right for you.

Evaluation

Prior to prescribing contact lenses, Dr. Stiling determines what level of vision correction you require. Refractive error (commonly known as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism depending on the error) is evaluated by measuring how the eyes focus when a series of different lenses are placed in front of them. An optometrist may use either a phoropter or an automated instrument to take these measurements. To schedule an appointment for a vision evaluation with our Boiling Springs optometrist, call (864) 578-3926 today.

Corrective Lenses

After determining the level of refractive error, Dr. Stiling works with you to determine whether contact lenses or glasses are best for your lifestyle. Contact lenses are available in either soft or rigid gas permeable form. Contact lenses need to be changed daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, depending on what type of lens you select. Specialized contact lenses, such as bifocal contact lenses, are also available for patients with special eye conditions. Call us at (864) 578-3926 if you are interested in learning if contact lenses are a good fit for you.

Contact Lens Fitting

At Northside Vision, Dr. Stiling is committed to providing each patient the optimal vision experience, whether that be through spectacle lenses or contact lenses.  She takes time to speak to you about your expectations and goals regarding contact lens wear.  Dr. Stiling chooses the type of contact lens that she believes to fit both your lifestyle and vision optimally.

Typically contact lens trials are inserted into the eyes on the same day as the comprehensive eye exam, insertion and removal training is performed, and a follow-up appointment is made for the following week. At the follow-up visit, Dr. Stiling assesses the fit of the lenses and asks for your perception of your contact lens experience.  If needed, any necessary adjustments are made to the contact lenses.

Once you are satisfied with both the comfort and vision through the contact lenses, Dr. Stiling will give you a prescription for your contact lenses!

There are many different brands of contact lenses available to be fit, including:
Synergeyes ClearKone, Air Optix Aqua, Air Optix Multifocal, Air Optix for Astigmatism, Air Optix Night and Day, Acuvue Oasys, Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism, Purevision Multifocals, Freshlook Colorblends….and many more!!!
